The Bible is Revealed in Christ | It Is Written Part 3

As we examine the significance of the Bible, it is crucial to understand that the Bible is revealed in Christ.

John’s gospel was written for the primary purpose of letting a non-Jewish audience understand the relationship between Jesus – the Son, and God – the Father. The most accurate term he could use for his audience to understand was “Logos.”

John 1:1 says, “In the beginning was the word (Logos) and the word (Logos) was with God, and the word (Logos) was God.”

He went on in verse 14 to clarify, “The word (Logos) became flesh and made his dwelling among us.”

Here is where it gets fascinating. The term Logos is a very technical term. It indicates the true essence of something – the accurate data, mindset, fullness, purpose, and personality. The Greek concept of the Logos is where we derive the terms Logistical, Logical, and Logo.

In today’s terms, a logo is a symbol that conveys the complete essence of a company in a single glance. Like the Nike swoosh or the bite out of the Apple logo, we know in an instant what it represents.

In the same way, the Bible is God’s Logo in written form, and Jesus is God’s Logo in human form. When we see Christ, we see God. When we embrace the scriptures, we are embracing God himself.

Ephesians 1:17 (NIV), “I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.”

When you study the life of Christ in scripture, you receive wisdom and revelation that can transform who you are and how you live.

Ephesians 1:18-19 (NIV), “I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe.”

Notice here that the power of the word is for us who believe.  The power of the Word of God and our belief in it have to go hand in hand. You cannot claim to love Jesus and not obey God’s Word. A lot of people say they love Jesus. Why wouldn’t they? He’s so nice and sweet and good natured, right?

But then they reject the Word of God, which is Jesus in written form. People fall in love with the picture of Jesus on the wall with his long flowing hair gently holding a lamb – but they don’t want anything to do with the Jesus who speaks the commands of God in the Bible.

If you want to truly embrace the person of Jesus Christ in your life, you must first recognize that He is the Logos, the revelation of God’s Word in human form.
